GETTING READY FOR THANKSGIVING?

GETTING READY FOR THANKSGIVING?

This is a wonderful time of the year.  It starts with Halloween and ends with New Year’s Eve!  As a professional interior designer in Bergen County, NJ, I am often called upon to refresh a space or bring a whole new style to it.

We have put away the Halloween décor, but some of it persists.

What can we do this year to make Thanksgiving special?

For many of us, we are going to have to zoom to be with those who usually come for the festivities.

Here are some thoughts:

  1.  Bring the outside into your plans.

If the weather cooperates, put your bar outside on the patio or porch.  This will get your guests outside in the fresh air and out of the kitchen so you can prepare.

  •  Serve your appetizer outside too.

We generally get so stuffed we can’t move, but a strategic plan would be to serve a warm soup in mugs that can be sipped sitting around the firepit (something to think about?)

  •  Decorating the table.

There are so many different ways to add a special touch to your dining table once you call everyone in.

Candles, pumpkins, fall leaves, pheasant feathers, special serving pieces all add to the festivities.

  •  Don’t forget to give thanks.

A nice way to do this is to have each person put their message on a piece of paper and fold it up.  Put the papers into a bowl and pass it around.  Each person picks a paper to read.  Less embarrassing for some!

Have A GREAT DAY!
